Finally a Stable Duo?: Isack Hadjar extends contract with Red Bull for 2027.

Despite his wrist injury and missing several races, Isack Hadjar has done enough to secure his seat for another year. The Red Bull Formula 1 team has officially confirmed that Isack Hadjar will remain with the team alongside Max Verstappen next year, extending his contract for 2027.

This is already Hadjar’s second year in Formula 1. He made his F1 debut at the beginning of the 2025 season, joining Red Bull’s junior team, Racing Bulls. It is fair to say that he quickly proved himself in a positive way. Although he crashed in wet conditions in Australia while still on his way to the starting grid, he showed his potential throughout the rest of the season with several strong results. His best moment of the season undoubtedly came at the Dutch Grand Prix, where he finished third to claim his first-ever F1 podium during his rookie season. He ended the year 12th in the drivers’ championship, but Red Bull did not hesitate to promote Hadjar to their main team for the 2026 season, where he replaced Yuki Tsunoda.

Team Principal, Laurent Mekies, said the following : "From the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve. You could see from that first weekend in Melbourne that he handled the step up with remarkable composure and had earned his place in this seat."

"The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can’t wait to see him back out on track.

We still have a lot we want to achieve this season, but it's a great feeling to know that the drivers, engineers and everyone back at the factory are all heading in the same direction, committed and together."

This year, Hadjar has taken on the rather painful role of a teammate to four-time World Champion Max Verstappen. However, it is clear that compared to the drivers who previously occupied the seat, he has adapted to the car much faster and more effectively. Most of his finishes have come inside the points, and it certainly cannot be said that he has been struggling to keep up. He has already claimed another podium this season after the controversial Monaco Grand Prix, and most recently added his third ever Formula 1 podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Hadjar currently sits eighth in the drivers’ championship, despite having to miss three race weekends after the summer break due to a wrist injury. These were the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and the Spanish Grand Prix at the Madrid circuit. He suffered the injury while training in boxing during his free time. Liam Lawson replaced him for the three races. Lawson is currently a Racing Bulls driver, while his seat at Racing Bulls was taken by Yuki Tsunoda, who became Red Bull’s reserve driver after losing his seat last year.

“I am really excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing, I came to this team eight months ago and immediately understood the scale and ambition of this organisation. From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the team, and with the support of Laurent Mekies and everyone in Milton Keynes, I’ve been able to justify the  faith they’ve had in me. I’m constantly looking to listen, learn and push myself further every single day, which only makes me more excited about what lies ahead.” said Isack.

Hadjar has extended his contract with Red Bull for another year, keeping him with the team until the end of 2027. His teammate Max Verstappen, meanwhile, is contracted with the team until the end of 2030. So far, Racing Bulls have not officially announced any contract extensions or decisions regarding their driver lineup for next year.
