Finn Groom: Mini Challenge UK Rookie joins RTA as Official Brand Ambassador

Rising Talent Academy are extremely excited to announce its latest Brand Ambassador Mini Challenge UK rookie and young racing driver Finn Groom. Finn is a promising talent already racking up years of experience over his 3 seasons in the 750 Motor Club Classic Stock Hatch Championship, driving a 40-year-old XR2 Ford Fiesta from 2022-2024. Finn began making a name for himself while documenting his racing journey on social media.

Groom finished 6th overall out of 27 drivers in the driver standings in 2023 and 8th in the 2024 season, where he tied with 7th. His greatest results consisted of a few podiums, including a best finish of 2nd at his home track, Snetterton, in 2023. Groom races under the name “All Groom Motorsport”, which is a family-run team consisting of himself, his dad and his girlfriend. Finn and his family began this racing team 10 years ago, where he originally started out by helping his uncle and his dad by working on their racecar and capturing behind-the-scenes footage. Impressively, Finn used his skills as a water quality instrument engineer to assist in some of the technical engineering work.

Earlier this year, Finn featured as a guest on Rising Talent Academy's sister brand (The Rising Talent Talkers) to discuss how much racing meant to his family and furthermore what it's like to run a team with such a small crew. He shared how his family-run team “All Groom Motorsport” came about, what the journey has been like for them competing in a competitive field with limited resources compared to other teams on the grid with larger budgets and what his goals look like for the future.

“It just brings us all together, really. It brings us all together and also brings us together with local companies that support us.”

He also shed light on both the positives and the negatives of what it's like being a smaller team and how he feels regarding the recent decrease in current family-owned teams in motorsport. (This episode can be viewed on the Rising Talent Talkers channel listed as EP3.

“It's a challenge for us, you know, with budgets and logistics, and doing everything ourselves. It's getting that initial budget that's the hardest part.”

He goes on to share how they had built their XR2 cars, which they used to compete in the championship, from almost nothing in their garage at home. Although Finn and his family don't come from a wealthy background, they make every moment on and off track count, ensuring that learning, grit and determination are integrated into everything they do.

Finn has recently stepped up into the Mini Challenge UK championship series, featuring his iconic number 91, debuting earlier this year in April, starting off his season at the iconic Silverstone track. The Mini Challenge UK series is a high-profile competitive championship series that began in 2002 and is referred to as a stepping stone for those looking to race in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The format of this series means that it comes down to natural ability factors merged with skill and strategy rather than relying directly on the performance of the car, which allows drivers to showcase their driving style without any external factor influence during race weekends. The championship is also broadcast on ITV4, meaning that this is a great way for All Groom Motorsport to receive commercial brand exposure as well as driver talent recognition.

Rising Talent Academy recognises the struggle of financial inclusivity and the general day-to-day struggles that drivers like Finn Groom face as they work their way up the motorsports ladder. This is why we believe strongly in bringing not only awareness to Finns’ story but also having him represent and advocate on behalf of RTA. We wholeheartedly believe that this brand ambassadorial partnership will benefit both Finn and our brand, and we look forward to working with him in the future. We would like to wish Finn and All Groom Motorsport the best of luck for the rest of their season with The Mini Challenge UK Championship.
